Windsurfing4CancerResearch

Objectives

1. To raise cancer awareness amongst windsurfers through education and so promote early diagnosis and healthy lifestyles to reduce the incidence of the disease
2. To improve the understanding of cancer and help increase survival rates by sponsoring specific research projects for the public benefit

This will be achieved by:

• Registering Windsurfing4CancerResearch (W4CR) as a Charity
• Creating and publicising a website to promote the charity and its aims in the areas of cancer awareness, education, support and specific projects
• Using a logo and branding to generate a unique charity identity
• Forming project teams to organise and promote individual events open to windsurfers, kitesurfers, speedsailors and other sailors
• Promoting the charity, cancer awareness and projects via local/national media and windsurfing publications
• Running one major event each year as the primary fund raising focus of W4CR activities
• Encouraging fellow windsurfers to get sponsorship for events and engage in other W4CR activities including website education and support
• Seeking corporate donations and sponsorship, particularly from within the windsurfing industry
• Publicising innovations in fighting cancer via the W4CR website and sailor database
• Distributing funds raised by W4CR, after considering a range of cancer related projects, organisations and individual sufferers
• Publicising the benefits and achievements derived from the funds via the W4CR website and sailor database

The financial aims of Windsurfing4CancerResearch are to: -

a) Raise funds primarily via one major sponsored sailing event each year but remaining alert to other appropriate opportunities.

b) Rapidly distribute the majority of funds raised in accordance with the objectives, retaining only that necessary to operate the charity and finance events.
